Luke DeCock’s AP Top 25 basketball poll ballot: Week 10

With a whole bunch of losses, this week presented an opportunity to reshuffle the middle portion of the poll, giving more credit to Butler, Florida State, San Diego State and Dayton by moving them ahead of Virginia while booting Memphis, which had been hanging around the top 10 out of poll inertia as much as anything.

Gonzaga stays No. 1 despite a scare from Pepperdine and it feels like the top 10 has coalesced into a group that will generally stay in place for the near future, with some (relatively) clear delineation between that group and the next, although West Virginia, Ohio State and Oregon still have a claim to it. Maybe it’s more of a top-15 tier.

The Big Ten, with six teams in the poll and another (Wisconsin) under consideration, is officially a juggernaut. It wouldn’t be a shock to see the B1G get nine teams into the tournament, maybe even 10.

Colorado was penciled in at 25, then imploded at home against Oregon State. Please welcome Arkansas instead.
