When the sun warms up and the breeze turns gentle, Triangle residents have a wealth of festivals designed to lure us outside. Here are the ones scheduled at press time.
March 2: KoreaFest
Where: NC State Fairgrounds, Raleigh
Tickets: $15-$30
The 3rd annual KoreaFest is hosted by the Global Korean Wave Federation. There will be a K-Pop dance contest as well as a singing contest. Korean merchandise, food, painting and instruments are all pat of a full day of celebrating Korean heritage. Korean Celebrities and guest speakers will also be in attendance. nckoreafest.com
March 16: St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Wearin’ ‘O the Green Festival
Where: Downtown Raleigh
Time: 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

The green sea of a parade kicks off at 10 a.m. with nonprofit and other groups marching through the streets of downtown Raleigh. When the parade is over, the festival begins. The festival is held at City Plaza. There will be live music, dancing and children’s activities such as crafts and rides on Leprechaun Lane. raleighstpats.org
April 4-7: Full Frame Documentary Film Festival
Where: Downtown Durham
Time: Varies
Cost: Ticket packages range from $25 to $100. Festival passes are selling out but at press time $30 rush passes and $325 fanatic passes were still available.
More than 100 films will be shown from morning to midnight with panel conversations with the film makers. fullframefest.org.
April 6: Dreamville Festival
Where: Dorothea Dix Park
Tickets: $119 and up
The concert series festival organized by J. Cole was rescheduled from September because of Hurricane Florence. J. Cole will perform, along with other artists. dreamvillefest.com/
April 7: Carrboro Open Streets
Where: Weaver Street, Carborro
Time: Noon-4 p.m.
Free
Carrboro Open Streets is a platform to encourage community building through open activity in Weaver Street, which will be blocked off during the event. Participants are invited to come to do activities they normally wouldn’t do in an open road like yoga, bike blender, dance or other outdoor exercises. ci.carboro.nc.us
April 26-27: Brewgaloo
Where: Fayettville Street, Raleigh
Time: 2-10 p.m.
Tickets: Ticket prices vary for Friday and Saturday
North Carolina breweries, food trucks and bands all come together for this two-part event. Friday night is the event for ticket-holders, but Saturday’s event is free. Saturday will have over 100 breweries and 50 food trucks with drink tickets available for purchase. shoplocalraleigh.org/brewgaloo/
April 27: Spring Daze Arts and Crafts Festival
Where: Fred G. Bond Metro Park, Cary
Time: 9 a.m. -5 p.m.
Free
Artists who make candles, furniture, jewelry, soap and wood are among the showcased. All artists and food vendors are either nonprofits or commercial food operations partnered with nonprofits. townofcary.org
May 4: Apex PeakFest
Where: Salem Street, Apex
Time: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Free
Live music, fair food and entertainment for all ages at the 39th annual event. apexpeakfest.com
May 4: Meet in the Street Festival
Where: South White Street, Wake Forest
Time: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Free
Three streets will be blocked so festival goers can enjoy arts, crafts, food trucks and live music. Download the Town of Wake Forest app to access information about each vendor. wakeforestchamber.org.
May 4: Out! Raleigh 2019
Where: Fayetteville Street, Downtown Raleigh
Time: 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

The 8th annual event rasies money to support the LGBT Center of Raleigh. Look for a beer garden, a KidsZone, food and local artists. outraleigh.org
May 17-19: Got to Be NC Festival
Where: North Carolina State Fairgrounds
Time: Varies based on the day.
$3 adult admission
Carnival rides and games as well as North Carolinian food vendors and activities such as the Masonic Carolina Pig Jig. Breweries, wineries, a trick pony show and a cooking show are among the attractions. gottobencfestival.com.
May 18-19: Artsplosure
Where: Downtown Raleigh, Fayetteville Street
Time: 11a.m.-6 p.m.
Free
Raleigh’s premiere art festival with more than 170 painters, potters, jewelers, photographers and more. Performances will be throughout the day, as well as food trucks. Visit www.artsplosure.org for more information.
May 24-27: Freedom Balloon Fest
Where: Fuquay-Varina
Time: Varies based on the day.

Project Uplift USA presents the Freedom Balloon Fest for Memorial Day, honoring military members and their families. Hot air balloon festivities like rides, competitions and glow events are scheduled. There also will be food, beer and wine vendors as well as live music. freedomballoonfest.com
May 26: NC Sugar Rush
Where: Downtown Raleigh, City Market
Time: 1-5 p.m.

This is Raleigh’s all dessert food truck rodeo with more than 20 vendors. Come hungry for Italian ice, cheesecake, pies, cotton candy and more. ncsugarrush.com
June 14-15: Peak City Pig Fest
Where: Downtown Apex
Time: Varies based on the day.

The Bone Suckin’ Sauce Peak City Pig Fest is a festival and barbecue cooking competition with 48 teams competing in chicken, ribs, brisket and pork. There will be rib-eating contests, pig races and live music. All proceeds go toward various charities of the Apex Sunrise Rotary Foundation. peakcitypigfest.com
