“Price Point” is a News & Observer column aimed at offering a quick snapshot of the market, and what buyers can get depending on their location and budget.
Every week, we will tell you about three houses on the market that are roughly the same price but located in different parts of the Triangle.
This week, we looked at homes that sold recently for around $140,000, and found homes in Franklinton, Durham and Raleigh.

Built in 1925, the house is listed as an “investor’s special” in an “up-and-coming” neighborhood. It features a corner lot and brand-new roof.

The house is in northeast Durham about a tenth of a mile from Lakeview Park. It’s about a 12-minute drive south to downtown Durham and a 16-minute drive southwest to the Research Park.
Built in 1940, the house is listed as “a diamond in the rough.” The listing said it’s being sold as is. That includes a partial basement with an outdoor entrance.
