The News & Observer’s service team just published our price-check series on costs at local grocery stores.

We compared the cost of 40 commonly shopped items at 16 retailers in Raleigh to show which stores are most affordable. We also made an interactive “receipt-maker” tool that calculates the cost of selected items at each of the stores in our analysis.

But shoppers may not always be looking for the best deals — even in this economy. Sometimes, the saying holds true: You get what you pay for.

The N&O covered the quantity. Now, we want you to tell us about quality.

  • Will you pay $6.99 for a gallon of whole milk at Sprouts because it’s the best? Or will the $2.45 jug at Lidl do just fine?
  • Does that 10-cent difference in the price of canned diced tomatoes at ALDI and Wegmans really make a difference?

You decide which retailer has the best store-brand items. Use the survey below to let your voice be heard. We’ll publish the results in on July 1.
