A popular North Carolina shopping center is getting another new store.

Timberland, a brand known for its signature lace-up boots, is coming to Raleigh this summer. The opening will add to the retail scene at Crabtree Valley Mall, which is planning to welcome several other tenants.

“The new store will be Timberland’s only specialty retail location in North Carolina, bringing its full assortment of footwear, apparel, and accessories to the Triangle,” the mall wrote in a Wednesday, July 1 news release.

Here’s when the Timberland store is set to open and what shoppers can expect.

Where and when will the store open?

The 1,639-square-foot store is coming to the first level of the mall, near Belk. It will sell clothes, shoes and accessories for adults and children, a Timberland spokesperson told The News & Observer via email.

The shop is scheduled to open its doors Friday, July 17. On its first weekend, customers who make eligible purchases will be treated to merchandise and will receive access to a station where they can customize their boots.

Here are the hours for the new store:

  • Monday through Thursday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Friday through Saturday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Sundays: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The store is opening after the brand was drawn to North Carolina’s “fast‑growing population, outdoor culture, and booming metropolitan hubs,” Ryan Murphy, head of marketing for Timberland Americas, told The N&O via email.

The state’s blend of mountains, coastline, and expanding urban centers mirrors our balance of rugged performance and everyday style,” Murphy wrote. “From a commercial standpoint, North Carolina’s economic growth and rising retail investment create fertile ground for long‑term brand expansion and deeper penetration in the Southeast.”

The Raleigh location will be the company’s only “specialty” — or non-outlet store — in the state. Timberland also has an outlet at Carolina Premium Outlets in Smithfield and is planning to open another at Charlotte Premium Outlets.

Other changes at Crabtree mall

The Raleigh opening is the latest in a string of recent changes at Crabtree, located at 4325 Glenwood Ave.

In June, signs posted inside the mall showed Toys ‘R’ Us and Idolize Brows and Beauty would make their returns. That month, the restaurant Fogo de Chão and entertainment center Level99 announced plans to open at the shopping center.

The additions come after Furniture World offered closing-related discounts and clothing store Premium Stitches left the mall, The N&O reported in May.
