U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders will visit Greensboro and Durham this week as part of his national “Fighting Oligarchy” tour.

The progressive Vermont senator, an independent who caucuses with Democrats, has travelled across the country since the inauguration of President Donald Trump to give speeches on “how we move forward to take on the oligarchs and corporate interests who have so much power and influence in this country,” according to his website.

His swing through North Carolina this week will start Thursday at the Carolina Theater of Greensboro, where he will host a conversation “about rising wealth inequality and building people-powered movements” with Carmen Rojas, CEO and president of the Marguerite Casey Foundation.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and the event is free to attend with an RSVP from the website actionnetwork.org/forms/rsvp-greensboro.

Then, on Friday, Sanders will travel to the Durham Convention Center for another rally starting at 2 p.m. He’ll be joined by Durham County Commissioner Nida Allam, a progressive Democrat who has launched a congressional primary campaign against incumbent U.S. Rep. Valerie Foushee.

The Durham event is also free to attend. Those interested can RSVP online at act.berniesanders.com/signup/rsvp-oligarchy-durham.
